A Sensitive Topic (And how it relates to my true feelings on pizza)

I’m sure every reader has heard of the most infamously popular trope of all tropes: the love triangle. Feelings on the concept vary, but it seems that few reside in the middle ground. I didn’t realize just how polarized the topic was until I saw concerns about one potentially developing in some reviews for my books.

So, I’m taking the opportunity to make a BSA (Book Service Announcement) to allay those concerns. It’s true–triangles appear as symbols throughout the Records of the Ohanzee series, some in obvious ways, some in subtle ways.

But there’s one kind of triangle you’re not going to see (hint, hint).

What are your thoughts? Do you love/hate love triangles?

      1. I’ve done the Pizza Friday’s on and off since college. It’s one of my favorite traditions. I’ll give your local bakery a call and let them know you will be getting the regular Friday delivery.

  1. When I was in middle school and high school, I was obsessed with reading books with love triangles because I thought they were soooo romantic. Haha, now years later, I know how unrealistic and just weird a lot of them can be, so I prefer my romances to not include love triangles. They can be done well though, but that’s pretty rare I think.

      1. Some people get shocked by including elements like that. It always makes me laugh. People fall in love in Westerns, murder happens in outer space, middle graders grow up in fantasy worlds. There could even be a love triangle in a dystopian story.

  2. I think it’s too broad a concept to simply love-or-hate in books. There are too many variables. It’s a plot point that’s either done well or not well. I don’t look at a book and go ‘Ugh! Love triangle!’ the same way I don’t go ‘Ugh! Another female YA protagonist!’. If there’s a budding relationship, usually there’s some type of problem thrown in to make it interesting, and a love triangle is just one of those things.
