I don’t care how many times I’ve taken photos of these books, I never get tired of looking at them! They’re just too pretty to resist. 🙈 Literally! The covers were a huge influence on why I read the series in the first place. When I initially read the blurb for The Selection, it sounded too much like a twist on The Bachelor TV show for my tastes. And when I saw the main character was named America Singer, I was further like 🤨. So I passed the series up several times, but these covers...they just kept sucking me right back in, and I finally read the books and ended up loving the story! I guess the moral here is that sometimes you SHOULD try reading books that you don’t at first think you’d like. You might just find a real gem. 🧡

I have been on a huge cozy mystery kick lately, and Death by Dumpling is a recent read that I absolutely loved! (Also, did you know that there’s an emoji for dumpling? 🥟 Becuase I discovered that just now. 😂) The story focuses on a young woman who has hit a rough patch (romantically and career-wise), so she’s temporarily taken a job waitressing at her parents’ noodle shop while she gets back on her feet. All is going well, until one day when a regular customer turns up dead after having eaten a shrimp-tainted dumpling from their shop. A simple, yet tragic, kitchen mix up, or is there something more nefarious afoot? (Come on, it’s a mystery, OF COURSE something nefarious is afoot!) It was engrossing and well-written with a likable and realistic cast of characters. I already have the second book, Dim Sum of All Fears, and the third book on preorder. ❤️ I highly recommend it to all the cozy lovers!
